Setting Up a Bird-Safe Home

Birds are sensitive to their environment in ways that are easy to overlook. A few simple precautions go a long way.

Watch the air

Non-stick cookware fumes, aerosols, and scented candles can be harmful to birds' sensitive respiratory systems. Keep the cage in a well-ventilated room away from the kitchen.

Cage placement

Avoid direct sunlight, drafts, and areas with big temperature swings. Birds also feel safer with the cage against a wall rather than in the middle of a room.

Toy rotation

Rotate toys every week or two to keep your bird mentally stimulated and prevent boredom.
