Every dog is different, and the right food depends on age, breed, and activity level. Here are five signs it might be time to switch.
1. Dull or flaky coat
A shiny coat is often a sign of good nutrition. If your dog's coat looks dull or they're shedding more than usual, it may be worth reviewing their food's fat and protein content.
2. Low energy
Persistent low energy that isn't explained by age or health issues can sometimes be traced back to diet.
3. Digestive upset
Frequent loose stools or gas can indicate a food sensitivity.
4. Excessive shedding
While some shedding is normal, a sudden increase can be diet-related.
5. Weight changes
Unexplained weight gain or loss is worth discussing with your vet alongside a diet review.
If you notice any of these signs, talk to your vet before switching foods — and always transition gradually over 7–10 days.
